2013 Trashwell Cup
(Information pulled from the FB Event Page)
This will be a fun hat tournament held at the UVic campus on field # 7. The entry fee is a MINIMUM donation of $40 which includes a custom reversible jersey, a delicious homemade lunch, and a babysitting service. The jerseys will be funded by the UVic Ultimate Club and the food will be made by them as well so that ALL THE DONATIONS AND FEES are going straight to Trevor. There will be multiple games running at a time. It’s for an amazing cause and an amazing friend, Trevor Ashwell.
Even if you do not wish to play in the actual event, friends and family are welcome to come show their support, watch the games, and enjoy the food.
As some of you have already heard, Trevor Ashwell (Trashwell) was in a tragic swimming accident on June 2nd. He dove into shallow water and hit his head on the bottom, resulting in severe damage to his spinal cord. Luckily the friends he was with performed CPR, saving his life and preventing brain injury. He now faces the immense challenge of moving through the rest of his life as a quadriplegic. Because the injury was so high on his spine, he no longer has use of his arms or legs and requires assistance to breathe. Trevor will sorely miss many of his passions: biking, swimming, Ultimate Frisbee and the other activities that kept him moving. Although his life will now be very different, he still has a bright future ahead. The medical system will provide Trevor with the very basic level of care that he needs. But from personal assistants, to technologies that will enable Trevor to gain greater independence and have a fuller quality of life, there will be many and significant costs ahead.
Obviously, it is important for us to have a general idea of numbers or the event, so we need people to confirm via. purchasing their ticket for the event ahead of time so we can order the appropriate amount of jerseys etc. MOREOVER: if you can’t necessarily attend the event, you can still make the donation and we will get you a jersey for your generosity. HERE IS THE PAYMENT LINK: http://
This event is a fundraiser for him but if you would like to make a donation directly to him, a trust fund has been set up and here are the details of that:
The name of the trust is: The Ashwell Family in Trust for Trevor Ashwell and the ID# is 751215 There are two ways to donate:
1) In person at any of the Coastal Community Credit Union Branches (there are 21 branches on Vancouver Island, you can find the closest one to you here: https://www.cccu.ca/
2) By Mail to the Comox Community Branch, attention to Maria Demers: 202 – 1797 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC, V9M 3L9. You can donate using cash, or a cheque or money order made out to “The Ashwell Family in Trust for Trevor Ashwell”.
You do not need to be a member of the credit union to donate to the trust.
It means a lot to us to have the Victoria Ultimate community be apart of this event because Trevor has had such a positive impact on all of us.
Thanks again
