B.C.’s Restart Plan – BCUs Return to Play Plan

On May 25th, the BC Provincial Government released B.C’s Restart Plan, a roadmap for the province to return to pre-pandemic operations. Included in this plan is the lifting of restrictions for sport, which will be phased in during the 4 Step restart plan.

The Restart Plan is a high level overview of how we can return to normal. BCU has been working with viaSport and other agencies as they work out details on how this announces impacts the sport sector. Further details around the next steps for sports organizations can be seen HERE.

At this time we are releasing BC Ultimate’s Return to Play Plan, Version 3.3. This plan is in line with Step 3 of the B.C. Restart Plan and can be used by Local Sports Organizations to direct their return to play activities, or as a starting point to help create local Return to Play plans. As the province moves to subsequent Steps in the Restart Plan, BCU will update this plan with additional versions to keep in line with the current level of restrictions.

If you have any questions about the implementation of this plan, or the development of a local RTP plan, please contact BC Ultimate.

Return to Play – BCU Junior Club Tournament!

With the recent lifting of restrictions on sport in BC, BCU is hosting a Junior Club tournament for Boys and Girls teams on July 17-18 at Burnaby Lake Park East in Burnaby, BC. This date is only possible due to field bookings we already have with Burnaby, finding alternative dates/venues for the summer of 2021 is likely impossible.

The event will be for BC Junior teams only. This event will only be possible if BC moves to Step 3 in the current Restart Plan, which is scheduled to happen on or about July 1st.

Schedule will be planned with registered teams to allow for reasonable load management as athletes return to play. Cost will be kept to a minimum, as will non-playing aspects of the event. Due to health issues there will be no field food at the event and no social event will be planned. Registration will open in early July.

If you have questions, you can contact the BCU General Manager.

Return to Play – BCU Mixed Tournament!

With the recent lifting of restrictions on sport in BC, BCU is considering hosting a tournament on July 10-11 at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey BC. This date is only possible due to field bookings we already have with Surrey, finding alternative dates/venues for the summer of 2021 is likely impossible.
The event would only be for BC Mixed teams. As we return to play, the event will be planned to focus on giving everyone an opportunity to play the sport we have all been missing. This event will only be possible if BC moves to Step 3 in the current Restart Plan, which is scheduled to happen on July 1st.
Schedule will be planned with registered teams to allow for a reasonable return to play load management. Cost will be kept to a minimum, as will non-playing aspects of the event. Due to health issues there will be no field food at the event and no social event will be planned.
The first step will be to gauge interest in such an event. If you are involved with a team who may be interested, or want to create a team to participate in this event, you can contact the BCU General Manager.
Help spread the word by passing this information to others who you think may be interested. We would be happy to see Women’s and Men’s teams combine to form Mixed teams for this event.
If we have enough interest, we will plan for registration after BC moves into Step 3 on or about July 1, 2021.
