Ultimate Film Project

Kickstarter Page

For those who play Ultimate, it isn’t hard to convince them why this sport is so addictive. The fast paced game, the idea that players control the game not officials, and the interesting combination of components of basketball, football, and soccer intrigue the hundreds of thousands of players who play around the world.

While Ultimate is starting to make its way onto mainstream television with the new and evolving pro leagues, one thing that has never been accomplished is a real picture of the intensity and athleticism involved at the National and International Competitive level.Unless someone has been witness to it live, they wouldn’t understand the grit, blood, sweat and tears that are put into a team vying to represent their country at the World Championships.

This project wants to change that.

Inspired by the recently released PanAm promotional video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMv2dlC2JFQ ), Ultimate Canada wants to see Ultimate in this same light.A one (1) minute video that raises the hairs on the back of your neck and makes you think to yourself, I need to experience that.

Building Ultimate and raising the profile of the sport happens on two (2) levels: the grassroots level and the Inspirational Elite Athlete level.This video would start the process on raising the awareness to all youth playing Ultimate of the endless possibilities that lie ahead of them in this sport and give them something to strive for; something to dream of.This video would be the first of its kind in the sport of Ultimate and would showcase Canada as a leader in one of the fastest growing sports in the world.  We hope you will be part of the journey.

BC Ultimate has a new logo!

BC Ultimate is proud to unveil our new logo! BCU worked with local artist Darbi Nicole to come up with a powerful yet simple design that we are looking forward to using as the calling card for BCU for years to come.

Some words from the artist:
“Inspired by the spirit bear of British Columbia, and the form of a frisbee, I wanted to create a connection between the two. Working with positive and negative space, a logo was developed binding these iconic images to represent the BC Ultimate Society.”
If you have any graphic needs of your own, BC Ultimate is pleased to endorse Darbi’s work for your design needs.

Flowerbowl 2015 Cancelled, women’s division to carry on

BC Ultimate regrets that due to lack of field space, the Open division of Flowerbowl 2015 has been cancelled. Field construction at UBC along with loss of fields to the FIFA Women’s World Cup has made hosting a large event that weekend impossible.

In it’s place, BCU will host a Women’s-only tournament on the weekend of June 6 and 7. The event will be capped at a maximum of 16 teams. We hope to host two divisions – Elite and Recreational. This will be dependant on the teams who enter.

We are asking that interested women’s teams to fill out this form;

BCU will keep all interested teams informed about registration and will work with teams to create a schedule that will benefit everyone.
