Registration & Voting

The AGM is open to all members of the BC Ultimate. A member is anyone who registered with one of our member organizations in 2019 or 2020.

If you are interested in attending the AGM, you can fill out this FORM and you will be provided with the Zoom meeting link by November 20th.

Board Elections

Three Board positions are up for election in 2020. Do you know someone who’d make a good Director? Encourage them to run! We’re looking for those with experience in governance, accounting, HR, marketing, or public health, but we encourage any and all BCU members to consider the opportunity.

The Board meets monthly and is responsible strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the organization fulfills its Mission and achieves its Goals. Please review our current Mission Statement and Strategic Plan. 

Nominations and self-declarations should be sent to president@bcultimate.ca and include the candidate’s name, a brief bio or summary of qualifications (max 300 words). The deadline for nominations is November 15th, 2020.

New Business

Proposed new business must be submitted to the Board of Directors by November 15th, 2020. If you wish to add an item to the agenda, send an email to gm@bcultimate.ca. Notice of any special business must contain sufficient information to permit each member to make an informed decision.

Sport is returning to British Columbia in accordance with the phases outlined in B.C.’s Restart Plan. At the request of the Province of B.C., viaSport has led the creation of a set of guidelines on how to resume sport while operating safely during this pandemic – the Return to Sport Guideline. Using this guideline, BC Ultimate has created a Return to Play (RTP) plan specificly for ultimate, which has been approved by the BCU Board of Directors.

As of August 24, British Columbia has now moved to Phase 3 of the Return to Sport guidelines. A summary of this phase can be viewed on the Sport Activity Chart. Updates for Phase 3 can also be viewed on page 21 of the above linked Return to Sport Guideline. This announcement is highlighted in the following Global TV News Story.

BCU member leagues and organizations can adapt and/or adopt these PSO guidelines for use at the local level. BC Ultimate has updated and approved our Return to Play Plan, creating version 2.0, which takes into account the changes included in the move to Phase 3.

We know individuals are eager to resume physical activity and parents are eager to see their children active and participating in sport and recreation again. With the reopening of parks and both municipal and private recreation facilities in our communities, casual activities have also begun to resume. BCU is asking our leagues and organizations to forward the ultimate RTP plan to all your individual members. For the safety of our community, it is important to ensure that all activities take place in line with these plans.

The return to ultimate, as with all sport, needs to be done slowly and carefully, with the primary goal being that of protecting the heath of our athletes, coaches, organizers and volunteers.
